The role of the Journeyman / Electrician encompasses many activities including but not limited to: * Understand and apply blueprints and technical diagrams * Inspect electrical components including transformers and circuit breakers * Use testing devices to identify and report electrical problems * Use hand and power tools * Adhere to state and local building regulations * Complete work orders on time * Create records of materials used * Exceptional communication and customer service skills * Ability to identify wires accurately * Ability to perform electrical tests, read results and diagnose and repair electrical problems * Problem-solving * Critical thinking * Circuit knowledge * Time management * Strong work ethic * Perform electrical installations, repairs, and maintenance in commercial, and industrial settings. * Collaborate with the team to ensure projects are completed on time and in accordance with safety and quality standards. * Troubleshoot electrical issues and implement effective solutions. * Read and interpret electrical blueprints and technical documents. * Keep up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices. * Maintain a safe and organized work environment. * Communicate effectively with clients and team members. * Provide exceptional customer service, addressing client questions and concerns Journeyman / Electrician Duties and Responsibilities Install and Service Electrical Equipment * Whether working in residential or commercial, government or private, the journeyman electrician’s bread and butter work is the installation, service, and maintenance of electrical equipment. A journeyman electrician’s work may include installing electrical wiring, outlets, lighting fixtures, or circuit-breaker panels. Journeyman electricians are also called to service malfunctioning electrical equipment, such as lighting systems. Troubleshoot * When conducting service calls, journeyman electricians must evaluate each problem and apply their years of experience and learned knowledge to determine what remedial measures are appropriate to get the system up and running. Promote and Maintain Safety Standards * Journeyman electricians are responsible for maintaining strict adherence to relevant industry and employer safety standards. Proper safety measures include the use of all necessary safety equipment and apparatus, as well as implementing necessary safety procedures and safeguards during any given job. Complete and Maintain Paperwork * Journeyman electricians are often responsible for compiling and completing the variety of paperwork required for a particular job. Employers may mandate that the journeyman electrician maintain inventory records of materials used or job performance logs.
